About us
We're Wes and Megan Dorsett, raised in Pittsburg, Texas.
Wes grew up working alongside his dad, Kenny - a true cowboy - on the family's dairy and chicken farm. From feeding cattle and raking hay in the summer to milking early mornings, Wes learned the value of hard work and developed a deep love for farming and raising cattle. Those early years became the foundation for what we're building today.
High school sweethearts, we pursued our dreams far from each other - Wes pursued baseball at Northeast Texas Community College and the University of Nevada, Reno while Megan studied nursing at East Texas Baptist University. After college, we married in 2006. Megan began her career as a nurse and Wes went into teaching and coaching.
In 2008, the same year our first daughter Lilly was born, we bought our first small herd: 10 momma cows and a bull. At the time, we didn't know exactly where life would take us - we just fed the cattle and sold the calves at local auctions to help with costs.
Fast forward nearly 17 years, and we've added two more kids (Judson and Zoe), a lot more cows, and a vision that has grown far beyond what we imagined. What started with feeding a handful of families has grown in a dream of providing high-quality, farm-fresh beef from our pasture to your table.
We've weathered droughts in 2011 and 2022, and uncertainty of 2020, but each challenge has only deepened our commitment: to raise healthy cattle, to honor the lessons passed down to Wes from his dad, and to provide East Texas families with beef they can trust.
This isn't just about raising cattle-its about continuing a family legacy, teaching our children the same values we were raised with, and sharing the fruits of our work with families like yours.
From our family to yours - welcome to Dorsett Beef.
